FOR BIGCOMMERCE STORES

BigCommerce gives you the controls, without telling you how to use them.

BigCommerce sits between Shopify and a fully custom build. It gives you more SEO control than Shopify and more guardrails than custom code, which means most stores never use half of what is available. We audit your store against the failure patterns we see again and again on BigCommerce. £79 flat.

What we look for in your audit.

Every audit includes the same a prioritised action plan. For BigCommerce stores, these are the six areas that matter most.

01

Stencil theme defaults and what they hide

BigCommerce's Stencil themes ship with reasonable SEO defaults that most stores then break with theme customisations. Schema markup gets stripped, canonical tags get pointed at the wrong URL, hreflang gets duplicated. We check what your theme is currently emitting against what it should.

02

Category and brand page structure

BigCommerce lets you nest categories deeply and create brand pages, but the default URL structure (/category/sub-category/sub-sub) buries your most important pages. We tell you which categories deserve to be promoted to the top level and which can be merged.

03

Faceted navigation and Product Filtering

BigCommerce's product filtering creates URLs for every filter combination by default. Most stores have thousands of these indexed when they should be canonicalised back to the parent category. We list the URL patterns to handle in your robots.txt and via canonicals.

04

Headless storefronts and the schema problem

If you are running a headless BigCommerce frontend (Next.js, Nuxt, Catalyst), the schema your storefront emits is whatever your developer wrote. We pull schema from your live URLs and flag what is missing, broken, or different from what BigCommerce's admin claims is set.

05

Image optimisation and the Akamai CDN

BigCommerce uses Akamai by default to serve images, which means image filenames and alt text behave differently than a self-hosted setup. We check whether your alt-text coverage is consistent across the store, and whether the CDN-served formats are the optimal ones for Core Web Vitals.

06

Multi-storefront and the duplicate content trap

If you run multiple storefronts on one BigCommerce account (different regions, different brands), the platform makes it easy to accidentally duplicate content across them. We check whether your hreflang and canonical setup is correctly isolating each storefront.

FREQUENTLY ASKED

Questions we get a lot.

If your question is not here, email hello@bumpupseo.com and a real human (not a chatbot) will reply, usually within a few hours.

Will the audit work with BigCommerce Enterprise?

Yes. The recommendations apply to all BigCommerce plans. Enterprise stores tend to have a few extra areas to audit (multi-storefront, Price Lists, B2B Edition) and we cover those when applicable.

Do you audit headless BigCommerce setups?

Yes. We audit the live front end Google sees, regardless of whether it is Stencil-themed, Catalyst-built, or fully custom. If your headless front end is breaking what BigCommerce admin claims is set, we catch it.

Will the audit conflict with my BigCommerce SEO app?

No. The recommendations are platform-level. If you use an app to manage schema or sitemap depth, the audit will check whether the app is configured correctly and where it leaves gaps.

How does the audit handle multi-region storefronts?

Share the primary URL when you order and mention your multi-storefront setup in the notes. We will check hreflang, regional content variation, and currency declaration across your storefronts.

My BigCommerce store has 10,000+ SKUs. Can you audit that?

Yes. We do not audit every SKU page individually, we audit the templates and patterns. A 10,000 SKU store usually has 5 to 10 product page templates and we evaluate each one. The recommendations apply across your full catalogue.
